First thing to do: Open the mailbox! The "key" to turn on the water supply is found in the mailbox.
We had a hard time trying to turn on the water supply even with the "key". Our ID helped us to borrow a screw driver to unscrew a cap and then use the "key". I have no idea how to on the water supply.

Go to SP services which is located at level 3 of HDB hub (same level as house fire insurance).
I recommend u to
1)Get fire insurance
2)get queue number for Sp services
3) spouse to go level 8 for queue for key collection.
SP services can also be set up via online website.
(Info provided by a friend who just got his house key)
Some will put the huat kuay at the corners of the living room with joss sticks. Pineapple in the middle of living room with joss sticks as well.
Then sprinkle salt and rice everywhere in the house.
They said roll pineapple when u first step in wherever the pineapple stop is yr house wealth spot 财位. Oso buy huat kuey place at centre of the house burn 3 joss stick n leave it there until ur reno starts. Sprinkle salt all 4 corners of ur flat is just to 'take over' as owner and invited unwanted spirits away. Remember to sprinkle from inside outwards so they get invited away properly...
Well I did these and won my first 4d of the lifetime 1 week after. Believe it or not up to u.
There is saying that the first time must boil water and pour into four corners of the house. This is 風生水起....
If you are not so 'pantang', juz buy 5 types of fruits (oranges, apples, pear, grapes & banana ) plus Huat Kuay & j/sticks t offer for safety-stay.
The very most is placing a symbol of wealth n health like a pixiu in the wealth portion of your place.
Prayer
Here are some things you might want to bring in preparation:
1 pineapple (and/or other fruits/rice/green beans/coins etc) for use when you first open the door
plenty of water (you’re going to sweat a lot!)
picnic mat to KO on (in case you get too tired from checking defects in the flat)
mini fan (it’s going to be hot hot hot!)
masking tape and marker pen to indicate the defects
bicycle number lock to lock the main gate if you have defects that needs to be rectified by HDB (the service centre won’t accept your key anyway)
door stopper to keep the main door open (to let the air in or the whole flat will feel super stuffy)
Now if you’re Taoist, you will want to do the Earth Deity (谢土 for move-in day) ritual. For this, you’ll need:
1 x banana
5 x oranges
1 x huat-kueh (steamed Chinese rice flour cake)
1 set of 地主金 + 5 sticks incense + 1 pair candles
A metal bin for burning joss paper (a used one from your old home is fine)
Prepare the items at the door or at the bay window of the living room and stick the candles on the huat-kueh.
The male owner will light the incense and say, “天地开泰,今天良辰吉日,弟子XXX诚心祈求五方五土地主,福主, 及龙神速到此保佑合家平安,流年大吉,贵人得助,消灾降福来……”
今日良辰吉日,天地开泰,正门一开,五福进门来! 兴啊 !旺啊 !发啊 !
Then stick the incense on the huat-kueh. Observe the incense, when it is reduced to 2/3 its length, burn the joss paper at the door
First is pick up an auspicious date, timing (for me is anytime as long as not night time), hang on red cloth outside your main door & cook "tan yuan"..
. Choose a good date/time based on ba zhi both husband and wife and shift on that day.
2. Buy a rice container - the rice must be full no matter how big/small your container is (prepare the few days put inside your house before move in on actual day)
3. On the actual move in day - things to do :
a. When move in to the house on actual day, first thing when enter new house say something good - 吉利的话。
b. Boil the water using the stove - this is to activate the "qi" inside the house.
c. Light up the candle named "七色蜡烛“ you can get it from those shop selling praying stuff one.
got big and small type. then you light up the candle until it finish burnt.
d. On the day itself cook delicious dinner and eat together with all family . you can choose to ta pao you too busy to cook . .
e. Turn on the whole house light for that day night time till the next day morning. but I switch off my room light only when I sleep. the rest of the light in the house I just turn it on till next day.
Above are my advised by one of my fren who learnt feng shui.
1 week before i move into the house, i perform home cleansing from sacredsagesg
2. on the date that i move in, i pray to my deity
3. i boil a pot of sweet bean soup and tan yuan. Which is only for occupants of the home.
Key words Entering new house for the first time forum
. On the actual day of moving into your new house, the following rituals are practiced by most local Chinese. You will need to prepare the following:
2 pineapples.
A rice bin filled with rice at least 3/4 full. If you don’t have a new bin, using an old one is fine.
In the rice bin, place an Ang-Pow (Red Packet) of $8.
Red paper , gold marker, Chinese word 满, paste red paper on every room, 405510553∞
Make a “welcome basket”. In this basket, there should be a packet of salt, a bottle of soy sauce, a bottle of cooking oil, a packet of sugar, some canned food, a piece of huat-kueh (steamed Chinese rice flour cake) and a packet of tang-yuan (glutinous rice balls).
A new clay charcoal stove.
Some charcoal and a fire starter.
With all these prepared, you’re ready for the moving in ceremony!
Get everyone to dress up in nice and clean clothing.
Ask the male owner of the house to light up the stove at the door, and make sure the charcoal is set alight and burning brightly!
Open the main door.
Get the man of the house to carry the rice bin and step over the charcoal stove, reciting auspicious phrases en route into the house. He will be the first to enter.
Once inside the house, he will open all the doors and windows.
The female owner will be next to cross over the charcoal stove, carrying with her the ‘welcome basket’ of groceries. She is also the one who rolls the pineapple in the house, and shout “财源滚滚来” for good measure!
Once inside, she should start to:
a. Light the kitchen stove.
b. Boil a kettle of water.
c. Start cooking the tang-yuan for the family to eat.Children will be next to enter the house, also stepping over the charcoal stove. When everyone is in, leave the charcoal stove at the door.
The man should then retrieve the pineapples and, depending on your religion, start rituals. Taoists would offer prayers to the Tu Di Gong (土地公).
When all that is done, retrieve the charcoal stove, bring it to the kitchen and let the flames extinguish naturally. Once the flames are out, you can keep the stove in either the kitchen or the storeroom.

Earth blessings 拜五方
Prepare the items at the door or at the bay window of the living room and stick the candles on the huat-kueh.
The male owner will light the incense and say, “天地开泰,今天良辰吉日,弟子诚心祈求五方五土地主,福主, 及龙神速到此保佑合家平安,流年大吉,贵人得助,消灾降福来…
Chinese Ritual – 拜五方 Earth Blessings (拜四角)
First of all this is not one of the feng shui principles. This is just a Chinese custom or ritual to give you peace of mind.
i have received a lot inquiries wanted something “extra” to boost the house energies and since it is difficult to change one’s perception (especially the older generations, although i am not young too) this Chinese practice will ease your mind. This is a Chinese ritual to seek good fortune before shifting into a new house so you can perform this ritual before or after renovation. Or you can use it to “clean” the “bad” 秽气 (hui qi) energies for an occupied home over a period. Some also use it for resale houses that they have purchased to prevent “unseen dark energies”.
Chinese tradition consider “luck” is derived from the 5 earth energies 財運是來自五方五土. Personally i believed this ritual works even better than choosing a good day to collect keys or rolling of pineapples into the house.
拜祭五方 “praying to the 4 corners and centre of the earth” is one of the unrevealed ritual practised by some feng shui master. Sometimes when a house is unoccupied for too long or if you find that your luck is going downhill, you can try this out for yourself but it does carry some strong religious overtones. Conventional Chinese custom believed that the burning of red candles, the food offerings create a certain ” bonding energy ” or connection between the occupiers and the surroundings or the “Earth” home.
Preparations
1. 5 different fruits e.g. red apple, green apple, orange, banana, plum, pineapple, blue berries, green pear ( do not use yellow pear ) you can buy either 5 of each type (25 fruits) or for convenience 1 of each type (5 fruits) up to you. (5 colour fruits)
2. 5 small portions of raw bean sprout ( you can put on a red paper plate )
3. 5 pieces raw to fu or 25 raw tofu 豆腐
4. 5 small portions of groundnut
5. 5 small portions of 5 colored beans mixed together.
6. 5 pieces of “fa cake”
8. 10 red candles 红烛
9. 25 joss sticks
10. 25 sweets
11. 5 red carrots
12. 5 cups of liquor
13. 5 cups of tea
14. 1 set of praying to 5 earth 金銀衣紙 (optional if your religion does not allow) have to purchase it from incense stores.
Procedure
1. Get a Singapore Feng Shui Master to choose an auspicious date and time that is not in conflict with the destiny of the apartment and key owners of the house.
2. Lay out all the stuff in 4 corners and centre of the whole house ( not the 5 corners of the living hall ). So one corner will have 1 piece of the 5 types of fruit (e.g. 1 orange, 1 apple, 1 pear, 1 pineapple, 1 grape) or 5 pieces of 5 types of fruit (5 oranges, 5 apples, 5 pears, 5 pineapples 5 grapes), 1 small portion of raw bean sprout, 1 piece of raw dou fu or 5 pieces of raw dou fu, 1 small portion of groundnut, 1 small portion of 5 colored beans, 1 piece of “fa cake”, 5 sweets and 1 red carrot. The only difference is that the centre have 1 piece of raw pork meat, 10 red candles (1 pair at each 4 corners & 1 pair in the centre) , 25 joss sticks (5 at each corner and 5 at the centre) , 5 cups of tea & liquor (1 at each of the 4 corners and 1 at the centre) , incense (optional) place at the centre to burn after praying whereas the 4 corners do not have to. You can use red paper plates and red paper cups to place the stuff.
3. At the centre of the entire house facing towards the main door direction, light up the 10 red candles and move from a clockwise direction starting from the left corner of the house and place the 2 red candles at each corner and the last 2 candles at the centre. You can root the red candles on one of the fruits that you purchased.
4. Light up 25 joss sticks, pray for blessings and your well wishes for your family members stating their names, address of the house and bow to the 4 corners. For those with religion you can quote some power phrases and for those that not, you can recite some auspicious blessings in your heart with belief and sincerity. In a similar fashion proceed to the 4 corners and root the joss sticks, last one being the centre of the house.
5. In the same fashion greet the 4 corners and centre with tea follow by liquor or liquor follow by tea it doesn’t matter.
6. Optional, with the incense in your hands similarly pray for wellness, bow to the 4 corners 3 times and burn these incense when the joss stick is burned to half.
7. The food and offerings are not to be consumed. You can disposed the offerings after 1 day or a few hours after the ritual. Notes: The proportion of the stuff, does not affect the impact of the ritual but it is the sincerity and faith that counts!
Please take note that this is not compulsory for those who have confidence in themselves and believed that luck will be attracted to those who possess positive mental attitude in life and hard work.
Success is 99% Perspiration and 1% Inspiration
Read any successful biographies of successful man and woman, no one can likely become successful without exerting any effort. “Luck only favors the prepared mind”. And there is no so-called luck in success, which you don’t even need to do anything in order to get something that you desire. Remember, “No pain, no gain.”
Ordinary people usually surrender their goals or dreams when face with challenges in life. But those who are loyal to their dream believe that “tough time never last but tough people do” do the impossible by constantly improving themselves through challenges – and that’s what makes us special. I have clients that asked them to activate “wealth” by putting a fish tank and they told me is “troublesome to maintain the fish”. Omg.
